Location and Surroundings
Hofgut Georgenthal is located in Georgenthal, 55 km from Frankfurt, near Wiesbaden, in the Taunus region at the gates of the Rheingau. Landmarks nearby include Castra of Zugmantel (4 km), Museum im Wehener Schloss (4 km) and DDR-Museum (4 km). The cultural landscape of the Rheingau extends as undulating hill country from Walluf (30 minutes by car) to Lorchhausen. The Rheingau is famous for its wine called Riesling. Mainz, known as the media and Gutenberg city, is the largest city in Rhineland-Palatinate. The easy heights of Georgenthal and the steep climbs up to the Großer Feldberg offer routes for cyclists. The 'historic town' features winding streets, alleys, and market squares, reminiscent of the medieval and early modern townscape.
