Location and Surroundings
Relaxresort Kothmuehle is 75 km from Blue Danube. Ostarrichi Kulturhof is 3 km away. The landscape of Mostviertel features gently rolling hills, pear trees and square-shaped farmhouses. The two-towered Baroque church in Sonntagberg is visible from far away and provides observation points along the Panoramic High Trail. The Ötschergräben, often called Austria's Grand Canyon, are full of high-Alpine plants. The UGC Schloss Ernegg golf course offers a 9-hole and an 18-hole course on completely level terrain. The picturesque town of Steyr at the junction of the Emms and Steyr Rivers, Windischgarten with its baroque townhouses and Weyer, the "Güldene Märktl " with an historic market place near the Egerer Castle, are attractive stops along the tour. The almost 50km long Panoramic High Trail winds its way along the ridge from the Sonntag Mountain past St Leonhard am Wald all the way to the Hochkogel Mountain. From the narrow and rocky path you have view from Gesäuses all the way to the Dachstein, 100km away, and to the Peak of the Hochkar Mountain. The Ötscher stalactite cave is located on the adventure trail from the "Schindlhütte " snack bar near Gaming.
